Coming Up at the Zimmerli

The New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra wraps up its Salon Series at the Zimmerli on Sunday, May 3, at 3pm. Reframing Classical Music features pieces selected by NBCO players, including a new work by composer Lisa Sobel. Artistic director Mark Hyczko, Ms. Sobel, and musicians will chat with the audience over wine and cheese between short performances about what inspires them and the process behind their art. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Zimmerli stays open late on May 5 for Art After Hours: First Tuesdays. The evening kicks off with a curator-led tour of Through the Looking Glass: Hyperrealism in the Soviet Union, the first exhibition at the Zimmerli to chart the development of Hyperrealism by artists who lived and worked in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, and Ukraine during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Immediately following, find out the penultimate selection in the Big Ten: Art series. Slide Jam welcomes photographers Ying Liu and John Matturri to discuss their new work. Musicians Brandon Broderick and Leo Kalik return to the museum. Art After Hours takes place from 5 to 9pm, offering free admission and complimentary refreshments.
