Art is the Cure for the Summertime Blues

See it soon! Picturing War: Selections from the Zimmerli Art Museum Collection closes on July 5. With nearly 130 prints, paintings, photographs, and sculptures by more than 50 artists, the emphasis is on the daily lives of soldiers and civilians: their moments of turmoil, but also their compassion and determination. These artistic responses to the great civil and global wars of the modern era capture the propaganda, the human reactions, and the aftermath.

Join us on July 7 for the final Art After Hours: First Tuesdays of the summer. Start with a tour of collection highlights in the American Art gallery. Then enjoy a performance by Cold Weather Company, a New Jersey-based independent alternative folk band. Combining the songwriting experience of its three members -- who met when they attended Rutgers -- the band carries a diverse sound, rich with vocal harmonies and instrumental builds. 5 to 9pm. Free.

Please Note: The Zimmerli is closed on Saturday, July 4. The museum's galleries are open to the public on Friday, July 3, but university offices are closed in observance of the holiday.
